Not that innocent Britney Spears has changed from a little girl in oversize football jerseys and pink tube tops to a sexy young woman wearing designer togs by Roberto Cavalli, Chloé and Versace. And the reigning teen princess continues to alter fans' impressions of how a 19-year-old should look. "I'm going for an edgy but sophisticated look," she says.
Stronger than yesterday Since pairing up with stylists Kurt & Bart two years ago, Spears has shown off more of her famous body, with all seduction, all the time. "Britney is more self-confident, and she's definitely funkier," says Bart. She dared to be bare in a glittery bodysuit at the 2000 MTV Awards, and for her November 2001 HBO concert special, Kurt & Bart have put together a Bob Mackie bikini top and thong over their Mackie-inspired crystal beaded jeans. Says Bart, "Part badass, part star."
