LIL' KIM
HIP-HOP HOTTIE
Notorious K.I.M. Since the release of her 1996 solo début album, Lil' Kim has distinguished herself from other female rappers with her full-throttle style. While others were into Timberlands and baggy shirts, the 4-foot-11-inch Kim wore painted-on makeup and skintight clothes. "When Kim started out, we couldn't pay for designer clothes, so we made our own," says stylist Misa Hylton-Brim. That left Kim free to create her own style: custom-colored wigs, webbed gloves and sky-high size-4½ heelsthe flashier, the better.
Ms. Hardcore Kim has become even more daring. For the 1999 MTV Awards, Hylton-Brim created Kim's infamous one-breast-exposed purple jumpsuit. Today, Moschino, Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Versace all work with her. "She's trendsetting, risqué and fabulous," says Hylton-Brim. "But she's very proper and shy."
